Anna Thompson will join the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the Metropolitan Opera in the 2026/2027 season. She holds a M.M. from Rice University, a B.M. from the Eastman School of Music, and also trained at the Academy of Vocal Arts. Next season, she makes her Metropolitan Opera debut as the Priestess in Aida. Recent roles include Countess Madeleine (Capriccio), Countess Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Micรคela (La Tragรฉdie de Carmen), Alcina (Alcina), Marie Antoinette (The Ghosts of Versailles), Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Female Chorus (cover) (The Rape of Lucretia), and Mary Johnson (cover) (Fellow Travelers). In concert, she recently made her Carnegie Hall debut with the American Symphony Orchestra.
Anna is a 2026 Grand Finals Winner of The Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. She has also been recognized with the Top Prize at the Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition, a George & Nora London Foundation Award, a Sullivan Foundation Award, 3rd Place in the Dallas Opera National Vocal Competition, 2nd Prize in the Giulio Gari Foundation International Vocal Competition, 5th Place in the Loren L. Zachary Vocal Competition, 2nd Place in the Florida Grand Opera: Young Patronesses of the Opera Competition, and the Judgesโ Special Prize in the Gerda Lissner Foundation Art Song Competition. This summer, she joins the Merola Opera Program. She is an alumna of the Apprentice Program for Singers at The Santa Fe Opera, the Gerdine Young Artist Program at Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and the Aspen Music Festival & School.
